Tekom 2017
Dokutech was delighted to attend another edition of Tekom (Technische Kommunication), a trade fair dedicated to technology and communication, which this year took place on the 24th, 25th and 26th of October at its usual venue: the Stuttgart International Congress Centre in Germany.
Each year, the fair brings together hundreds of experienced technology and communications professionals from around the world, as is customary.
Over the course of three days, these professionals have the opportunity to establish new contacts and partnerships, take part in various workshops, talks and tutorials, as well as visit the stands throughout the fair, which promote and publicise the vast number of services and products available and suited to everyone’s needs and preferences.
Although communication is the main and common theme in all editions, every year we can find something new, whether in terms of speakers, panels, stands or even workshops, where different topics related to this area are presented and discussed. The subject of communication is thus discussed in its various guises: interpersonal, digital, mobile, artificial, among others.
As in the previous year, topics such as augmented reality, mobile documentation, user experience, as well as digital product communication, legal requirements and standards, and project, cost and team management were once again discussed. These are essential and topical subjects on which it is important to keep up to date and interested in order to understand and manage the introduction of new technological advances in the labour market in the best possible way, and which are presented here with new introductions, questions and common and specific points of interest for each professional.
For translation professionals like us, there are points that are of particular interest to us, such as technological advances in language-related systems and programmes, for example: CAT tools. So every year we try to find out what’s new and improved with this type of technology.
Still on the subject of the use of technology in the context of linguistic communication, particularly in translation, one of the topics discussed at the fair that was of particular interest to us was that of terminological consistency, which is a principle that we have lived by since the beginning and which sets us apart.
It is with this in mind that we regularly take part in this type of event; Dokutech endeavours to have an active presence at events that contribute to the deepening of knowledge and the development of working methods, so that it can implement them in its professional environment.
Dokutech’s participation in this year’s Tekom once again confirmed the need and added value of taking part in events like this.
In this edition, we met new professionals, established new contacts, learnt about new services and systems; aspects that have already begun to be implemented in our environment and working methods. All with a view to developing a service that is always of the highest quality for you and your company.
